The Jazz Loft Project by New York Times. From 1957 to 1965 photographer W. Eugene Smith recorded 4,000 hours on 1,741 reel-to-reel tapes and took 40,000 photographs of major jazz musicians in a loft of Manhattan. This work was archived until Sam Stephenson published a
book last year.
