Hanal Pixan. Day of the Dead in Pomuch, Campeche

Audio-slide show about the Day of the Day or Hanal Pixan in Pomuch village, where they have a unique custom of cleaning off the bones of their late loved ones.

The town is located in the municipality of Hecelchakán in Mexico´s Campeche state on the Yucatan peninsula.

The cleaning of the bones is of Mayan origin an today we see that pepole putting candles, using sheets. This came with the colonization of our country Mexico and to Pomuch.

Heartland

The Heartland is an audio-slide show about farmer Tomas Villanueva Buendia, who began a seed bank he calls "Tepetlixpa Seed Bank", to protect and rescue the original varieties of his nation´s corn.

The Mexican governtment is promoting foreign, genetically modified organism (GMOs) corn.

If GMOs enter Mexico, they could contaminate more than 1000 varieties of corn, killing the legacy of the Aztecs, Mayans, and other indigenous civilizations.

GMOs are banned in many countries due to their connection with causing problems, environmental damage and destroying diversity.

If Mexico lets GMOs destroy their milenary culture of native corn, the legacy of their ancient god Quetzalcoatl (Aztec) and Kukulkan (Mayan) will be lost.

México. Alma Esencial - My second book

My second photography book, titled "México. Essential Soul," is here!

Mexican publisher AM Editores has designed another big, thick, coffee table style book with 263 pages featuring my travel pictures from across Mexico.

Culture, architecture, arqueology, traditios, among other travel subjets. The images run full page and are accompanied by poetic texts by Alejandra Uhthoff in English and Spanish.

Working again with AM Editores on this second photo book has been another great experience. Their graphic designers are very talented and the final result is really amazing. I want to thank the AM team for making me look really good.

I'm proud to be involved in a book that shows the world Mexico's rich culture, its diversity, traditions and beauty.
