I want to share Before they pass away, a project by photographer Jimmy Nelson of indigenous tribes from around the world. Regarding his project Nelson explains: "I
wanted to witness their time-honoured traditions, join in their rituals
and discover how the rest of the world is threatening to change their
way of life forever. Most importantly, I wanted to create an ambitious
aesthetic photographic document that would stand the test of time. A
body of work that would be an irreplaceable ethnographic record of a
fast dissapearing world."
His pictures are one incredible journey through different world cultures, ancient tribes, that like nature are being destroyed by the self-destructive political and economical system that rules today. Those tribes called by our western civilization as "third world" or "savages" have lived for thousands of years in harmony with the environment and the nature that surrounds them. They develop great cultures without destroying themselves or their environment. Nelson's pictures will help us understand how valuable human culture is and that the wrongly called "first world" is not as rich as it seems, as it leads the entire globe to its destruction.
