Playing God is an audio-slide show where you'll listen to bee keeper and Queen Bee breeder Alejandro Patricio García explains the importance of insects due to their pollination powers.

He also touches on the catastrophic damage that agrochemical based monoculture has leashed on our world.

He sees big agro as putting us at huge risk by "playing God" with genetically modified organisms (GMO) and spraying herbicides and insecticides that destroy the soil. He warns this is what's triggering significant changes in our weather, especially flooding. This bee keeper advises us that the only solution is to return to nature. To respect life and our environment.

Goat herder is an audiovisual about Jose Acosta Sierra, a man from southern Spain who has spent his entire life under the big open sky, walking with his goats and sheep.

He gives his perspective on modern society´s relationship with the land and suggests we should return to organic and natural milenary farming in harmony with nature.

Voices of Mexico, a magazine by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), has published my work in a photo essay titled El Triunfo. Home to a Thousand Wonders.

Queen Bee. The secret to eternal youth

I want to share a new audio-slide show about the Queen Bee. If you don´t know much about bees, you´ll find the interview with the queen bee breeder fascinating. This is the second time I turn my camera to the bees, because these vital insects are facing a serious decline in their numbers worldwide. I hope this work helps to protect them by creating awareness.

Crucified Nature

Here I´m sharing with you "Crucified Nature," my latest audio-slide show, the first made with my iPhone, which shows the unnecessary and exaggerated pruning of trees and deforestation in my native Spain.

Spain has suffered intense deforestation the past few decades. The elimination of forests is provoking radical temperature changes, droughts, heavy rains, huge fires and even tornadoes.

Even though severe weather changes should be reason enough to alter our how we farm and stop deforesting, killing trees has increased worldwide. In southern Spain many city and town governments actually promote the seemingly illogical topping off of trees that line the city's streets.

In this report you will hear the words of Miguel Angel Rosales, a forest engineer who specializes in trees, and Alejandro García, a beekeeper and queen breeder.

Before they pass away

I want to share Before they pass away, a project by photographer Jimmy Nelson of indigenous tribes from around the world. Regarding his project Nelson explains: "I wanted to witness their time-honoured traditions, join in their rituals and discover how the rest of the world is threatening to change their way of life forever. Most importantly, I wanted to create an ambitious aesthetic photographic document that would stand the test of time. A body of work that would be an irreplaceable ethnographic record of a fast dissapearing world."  

His pictures are one incredible journey through different world cultures, ancient tribes, that like nature are being destroyed by the self-destructive political and economical system that rules today. Those tribes called by our western civilization as "third world" or "savages" have lived for thousands of years in harmony with the environment and the nature that surrounds them. They develop great cultures without destroying themselves or their environment. Nelson's pictures will help us understand how valuable human culture is and that the wrongly called "first world" is not as rich as it seems, as it leads the entire globe to its destruction.

My first photography book, titled "México.
Natural Soul," is out!

Mexican publisher AM Editores designed a big, thick, coffee table style book featuring my travel pictures from across Mexico, focusing on nature.

From the desert of Baja California to El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, the home of the mythical Quetzal bird, the images run full page and are accompanied by poetic texts by Alejandra Uhthoff in English and Spanish.

In the first edition 7,000 copies were printed, with 263 pages.

El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve - Sierra Madre of Chiapas - Audio slideshow

Sharing an audio-slide show about El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve in the Sierra Madre mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. El Triunfo is one of the most important protected nature areas in the world, and is situated in the southern part of Mexico's Chiapas state. It is a refuge and endemic area for different groups of plants and animals. As the most diverse evergreen cloud forest in Mexico, and one of the most important sites for bird migration, the reserve is home to numerous species of birds including several of the rarest in Latin America like the Horned Guan and the long-tailed Quetzal. El Triunfo is also home to hundreds of butterfly and amphibian species, spider monkeys, tapirs and five species of wildcats, including the jaguar.

Michael Melford - Acadia National Park

Sharing a gallery by photographer Michael Melford for National Geographic. It features pictures of the Acadia National Park in the northeastern U.S. Melford was born in New York in 1950 and on his website he says: 'My mission is to share the wonders of the natural world with other, and to help them see the beauty that surrounds us. My hope is that we might preserve it for future generations.' I think Michael Welford has accomplished very well his mission as his images show the amazing greatness and beauty of nature.
