Mexico City Soundscapes - Blind and Visually Impaired Photo Workshop Projects

I'm sharing my latest audio slide-show production: a story photographed and recorded by four blind and visually impaired photographers showcasing the sounds of Mexico City's streets related to trades that are slowly but surely disappearing. The project was proposed by Gerardo Ramirez, who worked with his fellow students from the Sight of Emotion organization, Edgar Angeles, Jose Sebastian Munoz and Miguel Fabian. I edited the audio and photos and produced the audio-slide show.

Also I want to share some pictures of the photographers working on this project.

Riding Blind - Blind and Visually Impaired Photo Workshop Projects

I'm sharing an audio-slide show featuring pictures by Raul Lopez Esquivel, a blind man who learned to take pictures at a Sight of Emotion workshop that offers photography workshops for the blind and visually impaired.

Lopez, who was born blind, photographed Paseo a Ciegas (Riding Blind), an initiative that takes people with special needs on bike rides using tandems along the main avenues of Mexico City every Sunday. I helped with the audio and production.

World! You stay there! I'm leaving...

Past December 11, one day before her birthday Isabel Alarcón "Chabelita" died in the home for the elderly of the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe owned by the Hermanas Vicentinas in México City. It was one day before her one hundred years birthday.
I think she just wanted to reach one hundred, no more. In the image I'm sharing she is giving a toast during her 100's birthday party. It was great to be present in this magic day. Chabelita dressed her favorite clothes and started dancing and singing.

In honour to Isabel Alarcón I want to share the audio-slide show I did with the knowledge of this great person. She explain us what she thought about life and death. Speaking about dying she said "World! You stay there! I'm leaving...World! You stay there! It's there for others who are born." According to Chabelita when you are afraid to die God calls you first. It could be that her longevity was a product of not beein afraid of dying?

I would like you to see this documentary that shares the wisdom of the wonderful old lady Isabel Alarcón, Chabelita.

New Youtube Channel - English and Spanish audio-slide shows

I'm starting 2012 with a new Youtube channel.  I've discovered Youtube to be a practical place to share my audio-slide shows beyond by website. In the last six months I tested my stories in Spanish and was surprised to get about 50,000 visits ! So, I've recently finished uploading the English versions in order to reach a larger English speaking audience.
